New York State Laying Hen CAFOs

There are essentially only eight large laying hen operations in New York State. These eight entities manage 3.5 million laying hens. At any given time, these operations also house 750,000 additional hens ready to take over for the laying hens when they are no longer productive.

**Assembly Members Aileen Gunther (98th) and Al Stirpe (121st) both sit on the Agriculture Committee. AB-8163 now sits in the Agriculture Committee. Gunther has accepted annual campaign contribution from the New York Farm Bureau.
