New York Assembly Bill 8163
New York State Swine CAFOS
New York State differentiates between Medium and Large CAFOs for swine
operations. A Medium CAFO houses between 750 and 2,500 swine weighing more
than 55 pounds, A Medium CAFO houses between 3,000 and 9,999 swime weighing
less than 55 pounds.
A CAFO housing more than these numbers are considered Large CAFOs. A facility
housing more than 2,500 swine wieghing more than 55 pounds in considered a
Large CAFO, and a facility housing more than 10,000 swine weighing less than
55 pounds is considered a Large CAFO.
New York has no
registered Large CAFOs housing swine less than 55 pounds. There are seven
medium CAFOs housing swine less than 55 pounds. They are listed here:
